E. S. Black is an Australian author who writes mystery, thriller and suspense novels and watches an inordinate number of horror movies in her spare time. She studied at the Australian National University for an Honours degree in English and a PhD in Literature. Her doctoral thesis was on the political satire of Christopher Smart, an eighteenth-century alcoholic cross-dressing hack writer (though he’s better known for his mystical religious poetry).

E. S. enjoys reading, gaming, and napping. She lives in Canberra with her bird, a cockatiel, and her partner, an academic.

E. S. is a card-carrying member of the ACT Writers Centre and strongly suggests Canberra writers consider joining, or at least signing up for their newsletter.
