Last weekend I spent most of Sunday at the National Zoo.
I met my daily word count before I even met this guy!
I’m slightly ahead in my Nanovel this year; I’m currently (as of last night, Day 10) at 21,220 words. To be on par, I only needed 16,667 by that stage. So I am 4,553 words or 2.7 writing days ahead, if I sprain my wrist or something. (Which I WON’T do. Touch wood. Or wallaby nose.)
Pleasant morning yesterday; today we have thunderstorms. Possibly even more suited to suspense and thriller writing?
Yesterday I hit 2,543 words of a necessary 1,667, so I’m ahead of the game…but I know from previous years that this isn’t a cause for celebration, or at least, not yet.
I started early today with the only writing program I ever use, and love to death: Scrivener. Is it worth it? Yes. I first bought it in 2012 and it revolutionised my writing process. Word is great and all, but Scrivener is a powerful tool designed for Writing (and researching, and noting, and thinking, and all that goes along with Writing), not word processing.
No, I don’t work for them. Just love them.
Anyway…onwards and upwards for Nano. I’m hoping to reflect on my writing practice on my blog throughout November. I’m writing a psychological suspense/thriller novel with lots of murders and danger for my flawed and unreliable-narrator Heroine. Can’t wait to dunk her in hot water and see what comes out.
